This chipotle fakeaway gives you all the flavours of your favourite burrito bowl, loaded with protein and packed with fresh toppings.
WHY THIS RECIPE IS GREAT
This chipotle fakeaway is the perfect high-protein option if you want something filling but also quick to throw together. The beef is seasoned with chipotle paste and lime for that smoky kick, while the rice and fresh toppings balance it all out.
It is a solid post-workout meal, hitting close to 70g protein in one sitting. You can prep everything in advance, then just assemble it when you’re ready to eat.
The best part is how flexible it is. If you don’t fancy beans, swap them. If you want more carbs, switch rice for potatoes. It is a proper build-your-own style bowl.
INGREDIENTS IN CHIPOTLE FAKEAWAY
BEEF
Beef is the star here. I season it with chipotle paste, lime juice, and garlic. It gives a smoky, spicy flavour that feels like you’re eating out, without leaving your kitchen.
LIME RICE
Cooked white rice mixed with lime juice and fresh coriander. It adds freshness and cuts through the richness of the beef.
ROASTED PEPPERS AND ONIONS
Sweet and slightly charred. Roasting brings out the flavour and adds colour to the bowl.
BLACK BEANS
For extra fibre and protein. They bulk out the meal without taking away from the beef.
SWEETCORN
Adds a little crunch and sweetness.
CHEDDAR CHEESE
Melted cheese ties everything together.
GUACAMOLE
Creamy avocado mash for healthy fats.
TOMATO SALSA
Fresh tomatoes mixed with lime and coriander. It adds sharpness to balance the heavier flavours.

HOW TO MAKE A CHIPOTLE FAKEAWAY
- Start by seasoning the beef with chipotle paste, lime juice, and minced garlic. Mix well so the flavours coat the mince. Fry in a pan on medium heat until browned and cooked through.
- Cook your rice, then stir through lime juice and chopped coriander. Keep warm.
- Slice peppers and onions into strips. Roast them on a baking tray at 200°C for 20 minutes with a little salt until soft and slightly charred.
- Rinse and drain black beans and sweetcorn, then warm them through in a small pan.
- For the salsa, chop tomatoes finely. Stir with lime juice and coriander. Season with a pinch of salt.
- Now build your bowl. Start with rice, add the beef, then layer on peppers, onions, beans, and corn. Top with cheese so it melts slightly. Add guacamole and salsa last so it stays fresh.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR THE BEST RESULTS
Always season the beef well at the start. The lime and chipotle paste give it that bold flavour, so don’t skip it.
Let the peppers and onions roast until slightly charred. That smokiness makes the bowl taste closer to a takeaway.
If you want to save time, prep the rice, salsa, and guac ahead of time. Then all you need to do is cook the beef and roast the veg.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH CHIPOTLE FAKEAWAY
I’ve built this recipe as a full burrito bowl, so it already has your protein, carbs, fats, and vegetables. But you can also switch it up:
- Sour cream on top for extra creaminess
- Swap black beans for pinto beans
- Swap rice for roasted potatoes if you want it even more filling
